Have a Merry Robolights!

I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend! Mine was great..my younger sister was home from Penn State so we had lots of family time. On Thanksgiving, I took my siblings to this great light installation in Palm Springs called Robolights. I heard many people raving about the artist, Kenny Irwin’s work and had to see it in person.

Robolights is a beautiful exhibition in the backyard of his Palm Springs home and shows an interesting mix of various cultures within a Christmas theme. You walk up to the home to see black christmas figurines in front an alien with Robot all under Christmas lights.DSC_0088 DSC_0089 DSC_0121 DSC_0120

In a recent interview with the Desert Sun, Kenny said Robolights are his way to brighten the world. And I truly believe he is doing just that. The exhibition isn’t just your normal lights and Christmas decorations. Each piece is intricate with many recycled pieces making up statues and other amazing monuments. DSC_0143

What I really enjoyed is that my siblings were so engaged in the exhibition and everyone had a different opinion on what it all meant. My brother wanted to touch and feel everything and we had to explain that it was art. While my sisters and I all believe that Kenny’s pieces show the materialism of the holiday season while still showing the beauty of Christmas. DSC_0144

Enjoy the pictures below, but if you are in Palm Springs area this December I would highly recommend EVERYONE go! GO GO GO and support Kenny’s art. The exhibition is open nightly at 4pm until 9 pm. And it is best to bring cash to donate to help keep Robolights alive! DSC_0146 DSC_0150 DSC_0151 DSC_0169 DSC_0134 DSC_0135 DSC_0204
