Yesterday, Kanye performed at the 12-12-12 Sandy Relief Concert and had social media in a fury with his fashion choice for the night. Kanye wore a Pyrex Vision sweatshirt and Givenchy mens’ leather kilt and leather pants. Kanye’s fashion combo seemed to have to have all of America puzzled as to if it was truly a kilt or if he borrowed a piece from Kim Kardashian’s closet.
Now with any ounce of fashion common sense, you would already know that he does have a kilt on. Like I previously stated, the kilt/leather pants combo is from the Givenchy Fall 2012 menswear collection. In my opinion, in 2012 kilts for men shouldn’t even be a controversial conversation. They have cultural origins and have become a mens fashion essential to show off your fashion sense.
REAL MEN WEAR KILTS!
Beyonce showing everyone she’s about to hit the scene again! Pepsi released images of Beyonce’s ad for her new Pepsi in 2013.
The campaign will coincide with a blitz of promotion for her next album, which has no title or release date so far but is expected in 2013. Sometime after she performs at the Super Bowl halftime show on Feb. 3 (also sponsored by Pepsi), Beyoncé will appear in a new TV ad — her fifth for the soft drink since 2002 — and her face will be on a limited-edition line of soda cans.
The less conventional aspects of the deal are meant as collaborative projects that indulge Beyoncé’s creative whims, and might well have no explicit connection to Pepsi products.
The multiyear campaign is estimated at $50 million, the bulk of it for media placements and promotions around the world, and the remainder split roughly equally between Beyoncé’s fee and what Pepsi calls a creative content development fund.
When I saw this image floating around yesterday, my first reaction was, “Noooooo!”. As much as I have love fashion collaboration, the H&M collaborations have all been great. I’m afraid they will become over saturated. Which is why I was glad to hear the rumor of Givenchy x H&M is false…at least for now.
After 15 years as the Creative Director, Nicolas Ghesquiére and Balenciaga have decided to part way. Which is just adding to the trend of Creative Directors or Head Designers of major fashion houses that have changed directions. 2012 is fashion’s year of change.
I’m very intrigued to see who will replace Ghesquiére and how Balenciaga designs will be from here on out.
