Coachella Style

IMG_0593  In a little over a week, the coachella valley will be taken over with visitors for the coachella music festival. i was inspired by the festival to shoot my coachella style looks. coachella, like many music festivals, brings the natural hippy out of everyone. girls come from all over in their shortest shorts and crop tops with sandals or boots to enjoy a great time.

IMG_0574 My look completely embodies the freedom of the desert. I started my look with my cuff dark denim shorts from Urban Outfitters. I bought them about 3 years ago for a kid cudi concert. I wanted to look I chose this ripped shirt for my top, because i love it! it’s always on the borderline of appropriate. If you look closely I do a shoe change during the shoot to give the look some versatility!

I’m a Grown Woman!!

With this new year, I want to evolve my style! I think this year is the year of the essentials. I only plan on only investing in the fashion essentials that have quality!

Now I believe this look is a great high and low style. I feel a lot of people try to mix price points, but either go super high with one low item or the other way around. I like to find low pieces that are still good quality so that you can’t tell what pieces are high and low!

Put your freekum dress on!

Since I’ve become more social and have been invited to more outings, I’ve realized I have no “hoochie” “go out freekum” dresses… On a recent trip to forever21, i picked up a few good night out looks and this grey dress was one of them. I wore this out this past saturday and i just love the sheer panel on top and how well it fits through out!
Since it was fairly cold I styled my look with the faux fur vest that I bought in NYC. Keep the shoes neutral with my Jeffrey Campbell wedges and gold Louis Vuitton pochette.

Brooke vs. Brooklyn!

so my alter ego is Brooklyn! Just like Beyonce has Sasha Fierce…I have Brooklyn. Unlike Beyonce, my alter ego does not come out to make me perform amazing shows…I just become a little ratchet! lol

I found this amazing dress at forever21 for $25! I want to own it in every color it comes in…it is so comfortable it’s crazy! And I love that it shows off my new slender body…wooo!

My LuckyFABB Style!

Had to get a pic of my neckcandy! I got a little crazy with the necklaces. LOL

it’s spring time…now it’s time to bring back the dookie braids. if you don’t remember, i had the hairstyle about two years ago. how do you like it in the bun style this time around?

Fruit of the St. John

I love my fruit themed St. John sweater that I bought thrifting in Palm Desert. It was such a great deal for only $78. Today was my first day working in the new year, so I wanted to come with the bright energy I am feeling. I paired the sweater over my favorite chambray button up from Target, my pleated skirt from Forever 21 (which I have in three colors), and my black quilted boots.

Margiela Inspired Thanksgiving!

For Thanksgiving we travleled down to San Diego to my Grand dad’s house. Well you know we had to travel in style and this year we took inspiration from fashion house Margiela.

I thought it would be fairly easy to style leather, edgy looks but in the desert (where it’s still 75 degrees) it became a challenge. We wanted to keep everyone fairly in unison with some form of “leather” in everyone’s look.

(starting from the left):
-mom: black tunic & leather leggings
-Brittyn and Brieonni:
Rock & Republic sweaters, which Brittyn wore as tunic with leather leggings from Target and Doc Martin look alikes. While, Brieonni wore the sweater tucked into a Hello Kitty leather skirt from Target and Nine West combat boots.
Bryce: Grey pull over sweater and leather pleated skirt with leather boots.
Brandy: BCBG dress with gunmetal Guess denim jacket and Doc Martens.
Raylee: Skull sweater and LEI skinny jeans with skull vans.
Me: ‘Paris’ blouse from Target with leather leggings from Karna Zabete for Target and cognac boots.

I think everyone was styled to perfection!

(The neighborhood cat wanted to be apart of the picture!)

How NOT to dress to a job interview

Yesterday, I was at Buffalo Wild Wings with my mom and a girl was talking to a manager of the restaurant. We sat down waiting for our to go order & realized that she was there for a job interview. We were both shocked, because she was not exactly dressed for a job interview. Even though it was a fast food restaurant, she was dressed like she was going to the club.

(Here’s a quick snapshot of her outfit. She had a white crew neck t-shirt, yellow knit blazer, stretch skirt, & short cowboy booties.)

Which gave me the idea to do this post on looks for a job interview. Now I know everyone doesn’t have the money to invest into an expensive look. So I pieced together two looks that are under $100 and great professional looks.

Which look do you love more? One or Two?
