Coachella Style

IMG_0593  In a little over a week, the coachella valley will be taken over with visitors for the coachella music festival. i was inspired by the festival to shoot my coachella style looks. coachella, like many music festivals, brings the natural hippy out of everyone. girls come from all over in their shortest shorts and crop tops with sandals or boots to enjoy a great time.

IMG_0574 My look completely embodies the freedom of the desert. I started my look with my cuff dark denim shorts from Urban Outfitters. I bought them about 3 years ago for a kid cudi concert. I wanted to look I chose this ripped shirt for my top, because i love it! it’s always on the borderline of appropriate. If you look closely I do a shoe change during the shoot to give the look some versatility!

New look!

Welcome to the new “The Trapped Fashionista”! I did a major change to the site in the last 48 hours and I love the look. I was looking at the way the blog used to look and it was a bit outdated to me, so this new change is fantastic. Please enjoy and comment on the new layout!

Off to Monaco

This month’s “theme” at Kate Spade is Monaco. Since this year is the year of places to go, people to see!  I am love with the entire collection, especially the Corley dress (shown below). It is such a spring/summer essential. With every collection thus far, I have wanted to travel to every place. *Books flight!*

And it’s not even my birthday…

Last night started my birthday week/weekend celebration! Yes..I will be celebrating for the entire week.   I went to a local club with a few friends and started my birthday off right.
I found this super cute set from Target for $30. It’s a long sleeved crop top and skirt in a pink floral print. I love it! I don’t usually wear crop tops, but I will definitely be adding a few more to my closet.

Marc Jacobs leaves Louis Vuitton….

After 16 years as the creative director of Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs presented his last collection today to close at Paris Fashion Week. This is like a major divorce in the fashion world, because Marc has changed so much for the Louis Vuitton brand. It will be interesting to see who will take Marc’s place….

The Emmy’s were…. blah!

Can I explain how I fell asleep during the Emmy’s red carpet because it was so bland! I love to watch to see who will come out of the normal pageant dress and dare to be fashionable, but to my dismay everyone came with bland or unflattering gowns! Maybe next year the stylists will improve!

Here are my best and worst dressed:

Typed Up!

I haven’t put up a style cap in very long so I took a quick snap of a look before I headed to a meeting this week.

red lip challenge: day two!

yes, i’m starting with day two….because, i forgot to shoot my look on day one. sorry!
here’s day two…
i was inspired by my black & white polka dot jeans and using them to keep my look neutral and let my red lip pop.

i paired my jeans with a white with black polka dot shirt from forever21 to contrast against the jeans. i typically have to have on a “third piece” at work so i add my purple kate spade cardigan.
i’m honestly loving the red lip this week and think i will continue to wear it in the future!

can i take your picture?: alex

while on el paseo today, i spotted this boho chic fashionista and instantly knew she had to be on the blog. she exuded the spirit of a socal girl with her free people “duster” that covered her white tank and jean shorts, and to top her look off she threw on a red floppy fedora. she showed her personal style off while remaining simplistic with minimal pieces.

alex themm is a young model from the o.c. who was visiting the coachella valley with her mom and two friends. if you can’t tell already… alex is a young supermodel in the making!
