lunch date.

Nothing is better than having the same day off as your bestie! Nicole and I decided to make Friday a girls’ day. First, I helped Nicole with cleaning out her closet. It felt like that scene in the Sex and the City movie when Carrie has Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda help her clean out her closet.

Next, we hit The Ace Hotel for a lunch date. It was already such a beautiful day and the perfect day to sit poolside for lunch.

Our friend Nicky from The Fine Art of Design has his pop up shop at the Ace so he joined up for lunch which was amazing. He is such a sweetheart and it was so sweet of him to join us for lunch. The pop up will stay at the Ace until this Thursday, if you are in town PLEASE go get some goodies!

I kept things jumpin’ with a colorful printed jumpsuit from H&M. I live and breathe in jumpsuits so it was an easy essential for my day.

My Spring Trend: Topper Coats

I am completely in love with topper coats! When I stay up late going through my pinterest, I have been constantly looking at them. They add such an elegant touch to any look… whether dressed up or down! I’m making my topper coat my go-to for spring, because the fabrication is not too heavy and can be worn before the summer heat.

The Day to Night Look!

I have some very exciting news! I recently moved to a great position at….TRINA TURK! Yes, it was a very unexpected move and I am so happy! I have been welcomed with open arms and I’m happy to be apart of the brand.

The Moss 2 Pant has become one of my favorite go-to pieces in the last few weeks. The fit is impeccable and the print is fantastic. You can style these so many different ways which definitely helps me. Since I work in Palm Springs, I often transition my work looks to go out for drinks… and such!

I styled my pants for a fun easy daytime look. I paired the Moss Pant with my Green Trina Turk sweater and denim slip on sneakers. Easy going for brunch on a Sunday before hitting the town.

Then to transition to night, I changed into my strappy Chinese Laundry  heels and I added my H&M leather jacket. Perfect for a chilly night!

Can bloggers have fashion fails?

Sometimes when I shoot for the blog I have impromtu looks that I “know” will work in my head.

Thankfully, I know my body and style so my looks typically work. I’ve been sitting on this post for about a month, because when I saw the pictures…i wanted to run to the gym!

My concept was a winter pocho w/ bootie look. Well I should’ve known that poncho was tough, because when you aren’t a size 2 ponchos sometimes make you look bigger. They sometimes can lay well and other times… they expand you another 3 sizes. Yikes, right?

While not every shot looks bad…This was a blogger fail and I definitely own it. #onlylooksformybody

My style tip for women with my body shape would be: Wear pieces that are more fitted to your body. That typically slim me out and are still flattering. Just don’t forget those spanx ladies! 🙂

Christmas PJ Party!

With this time of year normally crazy for everyone, it’s nice to remember to take time for yourself and enjoy the day. That’s exactly what I did with Nicole (my blogger BFF) today. Being that we both work in retail, we try to stay stress free this time of year. I was so happy when Nicole suggested that we have a Christmas PJ Party to catch up and finish wrapping gifts.

Not only was the idea great, but so were our PJ’s. We both bought the same flannel romper from Nordstrom Rack in different prints. How crazy is that?

Well we had a great time! We had eggnog while we had girl talk and did a small gift exchange.

Oh and we had a fun pillow fight…it was so funny that we ended up in full on laughter.

Such a fun relief right before christmas. I might need to plan this out again for next year with Nicole.

U-G-L-Y, you ain’t got no alibi…

Ugly Christmas sweaters are the go- to piece in the holiday season. Before ugly Christmas sweaters were truly the ugly grandma sweater that you would find in Goodwill. Now they are a trendy piece that every major retailer sells. I was shopping for holiday gifts and found this awesome Christmas sweater at Nordstrom Rack.

I love the cardigan style, because it makes the sweater a little different than the normal pullover style. The best part is that the Christmas tree on the sweater lights up! How awesome is that? When I saw that… I knew I had to buy it.

We are wearing Christmas sweaters this weekend at work, so I can’t wait to show my light up sweater.

What are your verdicts on Ugly Christmas Sweater? Yay or Nay?

how to conquer finals fashionably

To all my college students, it’s that dreaded time of year…FINALS! It is that week you fear all semester, but no worries we will conquer these finals and enjoy the holiday season.

I love positive reinforcements and I believe seeing those messages help keep my mood great. My three essentials to conquer the finals are:

  • Coffee (hot chocolate for me) in your cutest mug to remind you how great you are!
  • Study, Study, Study! Nordstrom Rack has an adorable collection of notebooks with positive quotes and cute sketches.
  • Stay comfy! It’s time to bring out those comfortable Victoria’s secret sweats and your fab slippers. I just picked up these glitter slippers from Nordstrom Rack.

My day in LA…

A few weeks ago, my friend Courtney let me know she would be coming to LA from ATL. I haven’t seen Courtney since I’ve moved to Cali so I HAD to make the drive to LA for her.

Since I’m a few hours out, I have to trips to LA count for the full day. I decided to hit Santa Monica to enjoy a day of shopping and ocean view. I can’t remember that last time I saw the ocean…

I went a little crazy in Nordstrom, Victoria’s Secret, Zara, and so many other stores… it was a great day. I’ve been into a Nasty Gal boutique so I stopped in the one at the 3rd Street Promenade… It was an interesting.

Nasty Gal boutiques are kind of what you expect. Semi-overpriced “vintage looking” pieces. They definitely cater to that rich girl in LA who likes that look.

After shopping, I picked up Courtney and her friends Hira and Nabihah. We all squeezed into my tiny Fiat and headed to dinner. We found this awesome Mexican spot near their Air B n B. The food was so good that I couldn’t finish.

After a margarita and a shot of Tequila… Tequila won! It was a great day in LA and I can’t wait to go back.

My 2015 Holiday Wishlist

The Holidays are here! I like to do an annual holiday list…to throw out any gifts that ANYONE would like to buy for me. 🙂 *cough cough*

No, but seriously I’ve realized the older you get the more birthdays and holidays become less and less important. Also, if there gifts that you ask for they are more logical. This year my wish list are things that I have been on the search for a while… like the Kate Spade Hayden, because Lord knows I need a black handbag. Yes, I don’t have a black handbag..Crazy, right?

I received my Surface 2 last year for Christmas and as much as I love it, I’ve realized that I need an upgrade to do a expand my brand. I love love love to read and have wanted Grace Coddington’s memoir.

Last but not least…I AM OBSESSED with Trina Turk’s active wear and I love the Palm Beach collection.

What is on your list this year?

Kate Spade Hayden Handbag | Microsoft Surface 3 | Grace: A Memoir | Trina Turk ‘Palm Beach’ sports bra / leggings

The Wrap Up

This year has been a whirlwind and I can’t believe it’s already coming to a close.

This year has been amazing and I can’t wait to see what 2016 brings. This was the first year that I didn’t start the year with a vision board, but I believe it allowed me to achieve personal goals at my own time.

What’s better than wrapping up the year in a wrap dress? I love this printed Faux wrap dress from Target. Wrap dresses are always a fashion essential in every woman’s closet.

They are so functional and you can dress them up and down.
