Coachella State of Mind

It may still be February (for another week), but my mind is already in April. Coachella is right around the corner and this year I want to be prepared… fashion wise! Last year, I waited to the last moment to shop for my looks and it was a bit stressful. Nothing is worst than being at the mall before it closes the week of Coachella. Plus, everything is gone in your size at that point. My blogger beastie, Niki, has me motivated to shop my looks since she is done with her Coachella shopping.

Also, I’m taking a different direction style wise. Instead of the typical bohemian looks, I’ve been really inspired by the Afropunk musical festival. The festival goers use a mix of modern urban style with traditional African prints and textiles. Maybe I’ve been inspired by formation, but I am really feeling that this year. #Blackgirlmagic #getinformation

Styled for Spencer!

It’s nice to enjoy my days off styled how I like. I knew we would be heading out for lunch today and I wanted to keep my look spring chic. My mother owns this Alberto Mikali top at Nordstrom Rack awhile back. I knew I wanted to match my look around these new Sam Edelman gladiators.

My Alberto Makali top was a perfect match to the gladiators and my yellow shorts brought the entire look together.

When I originally picked out my look, I paired the top with white denim and was told that I looked like a Orange County Housewives. I had to improvise the look keep it to my age group. Lol.

rain rain go away…

Today was a rare day in desert rained! Which, honestly, is my least favorite weather. I hate being wet and the nasty clouds rain brings. I also have the “I don’t want to get my hair wet” mainframe. #blackgirlproblems   DSC_0261

The rain messed up the shoot I had planned for the blog, but it did force me to actually relax on my full day off. I needed to run a few errands and since all my rain boots are in storage, I had to suffice for this rainy weather. I bought these new booties from the Nordstrom site, Haute Look earlier this week. I have been on the search for a pair of brown booties since Coachella and how nice….I found these a month later! And you won’t guess how much they were $22!

I like to multi task during shoots… I was recording my sister  on snapshot complain about having to stand in the rain. Boo Hoo.. sacrifice… sacrifice! Follow me on snapshot @trappednfashion

I caught this awesome shots of the foggy mountains behind our house. How random is that… fog in the desert? It looks great though.

got a bad b*tch, she’s a masterpiece…

when Rick Ross said that line, i’m pretty  sure he was talking to me! actually i just thought that was a clever title next to the ART SIGN. DSC_0171 DSC_0148

This awesome ART sign is in front of the Art building at College of the Desert. The college I currently attend! The art building is one of my favorite structures, because it is so sleek and simple. as I was parking for class, I just knew I had to snap a picture there today.

the spring semester is almost over…one more week! I have finals on Tuesday and i’m so happy! this semester I took Intro to Mass Media, Psychology, & History of Film Music. Today I presented my final project for Mass Media, which was on How Social Media changed the Fashion Industry… yes, everything is fashion related! it went very well and if I can i’ll put my power point up on the blog. my presentation turned into a whole discussion on the trapped fashionista… so hey classmates! 🙂 DSC_0199 DSC_0151 DSC_0196 DSC_0189 DSC_0190

the sunglasses I bought on a recently bought on a recent trip to the Montclaire Nordstrom store. It was the last pair and I am completely obsessed with them. I think I have been wearing them at least twice a week. (say hey to my sister brandy’s reflection)

Flower Power!

I felt a real bohemian vibe today when I picked out my outfit. I think it’s my new braids giving me an “all natural” feel.

I received this sweater during the Kari Feinstein Style Lounge during Coachella. It is by this amazing brand called Desigual that is based out of Madrid..I believe. They have lots of color and pattern to all of their pieces. I haven’t been able to pinpoint the right look for the sweater, but today seemed to be the day.

I have another night class today so I have to make my look comfortable, yet always keeping in fashionable!

one of my new favorite handout spots is the hard rock in palm springs! the staff is wonderful and the hotel is the best energy. every last saturday of the month, the hard rock teams up with the coachella valley art scene  to host “THE WORLD FAMOUS PARTY!”. The party is DJ’d by our famous local DJ Alf Alpha who will have you fist pumping one second and tweaking the next.

Now don’t think this is just a regular party there is also arts and crafts from the CVAS! Also, they have a photo booth…yes, a photo booth! My friends and I take full advantage every time we go to the party.

Here are some of our shots:

94 days of palm springs!

this summer i want to do a total highlight of the place i have called home for almost 2 years now…palm springs! since there 94 days of summer, i will be doing a special “94 days of palm springs” series. i am choosing various events, places, people, etc. that are a major part of springs to highlight.

if anyone knows any great places to highlight, feel free to please comment and let me know!

Coachella Weekend: Forever21’s Cranechella

After hitting the style lounge, I went to the Forever21 Cranechella party. I was in a secret location in Palm Springs.

Cranechella is a funny name for a party, right? Well that’s because the DJ booth was a storage unit that was lifted into the air during the party. How awesome is that?

Since the party was hosted by Forever21, everyone definitely came with their A Game! I was able to snap a few looks from the party. Which is your favorite?

At the end of the night rapper, Azealia
Banks, performed in the crane. It was such an amazing performance. Such a great party.

Coachella Weekend: Kari Feinstein Style Lounge

Happy Coachella Weekend One! So on saturday I attended Kari Feinstein PR’s Style lounge in La Quinta. It was this amazingly cute lounge with various vendors for Coachella weekend. I had a blast! I was able to connect with some great new brands.

I first met this amazing line out of South America named Desigual that has amazing conceptual fashion designs. I snagged an adorable sweater from them! I can’t wait to wear it.

Next, I met this sweet ladies at Mary Grace Swim…can i just say this swim wear line is my NEWEST Obsession! They have the best pattern designs that I will definitely be rocking this summer.

Hotties alert! Who doesn’t love cute guys and beer? Well look no further than House Beer which is brewed right here in the USA!

Since i’m a lover of music and fashion I was hooked on electric picks, which are originally designed guitar picks that are turned into bracelets!

These two sisters have this amazing edgy line called Bandit 77! They wanted to design a line that was just what they were looking for. I loved it! There are awesome shirt designs and accessories. They have a line of leather rings…yes, leather rings! They just went live so I will definitely be supporting them very soon.

Who doesn’t want to wear eco friendly footwear? Well amazona footwear has you covered. These are the cutest all natural material sandals that I have ever seen!

I have so much more so share, but that I would give a little overview of the style lounge!

Thank you so much to Kari Feinstein for allowing me to attend the event.
