how to conquer finals fashionably

To all my college students, it’s that dreaded time of year…FINALS! It is that week you fear all semester, but no worries we will conquer these finals and enjoy the holiday season.

I love positive reinforcements and I believe seeing those messages help keep my mood great. My three essentials to conquer the finals are:

  • Coffee (hot chocolate for me) in your cutest mug to remind you how great you are!
  • Study, Study, Study! Nordstrom Rack has an adorable collection of notebooks with positive quotes and cute sketches.
  • Stay comfy! It’s time to bring out those comfortable Victoria’s secret sweats and your fab slippers. I just picked up these glitter slippers from Nordstrom Rack.

let’s fall into…fall!

DSC_0034

Yes, I said transition in the fall. Which is somewhat a joke right now in the desert, because it is literally still 90 degrees outside. I know it’s crazy!! Well in my head, I’m currently strolling down 5th avenue in brisk fall weather.

DSC_0025 dsc_0017

That’s why I am just styling myself for cooler weather, maybe mother nature will catch the hint. I recently shot with a new photographer, Miranda of Miranda Rose photography in Palm Springs and absolutely love the shots!!

My look was a little biker chic. I was inspired to pull out my black leather jacket from H&M. It is the perfect essential for fall & instead of a heavy jacket I still look stylish in it. I also had to break in my new black booties from Nordstrom Rack. They are the perfect low booties and so comfortable.

I can’t believe it’s already going to be November. This year is flying by and I’m still trying to catch from my birthday weekend. Haha (kidding… but not kidding)

happy birthday to me!

DSC_0082

Last week I celebrated my 24th birthday… it’s my Kobe year! I am not really a birthday person anymore, but I’m getting old now. #20yearoldproblems

Well this birthday is a special one, because….I got a new car. My little 1992 Mercedes had run it’s course and finally had to part ways. I definitely upgraded… to a FIAT! Yes, a cute little fiat. I am so in love with my new car and I want to thank my parents for helping me with the transaction.

I haven’t named my little lady yet…. can anyone help me think of a name???

This week is a busy one in Palm Springs…. not only because my birthday is this week! It’s modernism week in Palm Springs!! I attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new office of The Paul Kaplan Group.

DSC_0026 DSC_0033 DSC_0037

They have a newly renovated office in Palm Springs and I must say it is beautiful. They have office space and a retail section of the store. Yes, you can buy a home and buy all your midcentury needs for your home.

For the occasion, I wore this retro jumpsuit that I snagged from my mom. It totally fit the vibe of the event. Plus, who doesn’t love a good jumpsuit?

DSC_0098 DSC_0101 DSC_0102 DSC_0103

I received so many compliments that day about the jumpsuit…I think I might need to keep it for myself. : )

jumpin, jumpin!

DSC_0090

….’cause it’s 11:30 and the club is jumpin, jumpin! When I wrote this post title that song came to my head.

Can you believe it’s almost fall already? It amazes me that this year is going by so fast. It’s now time to JUMP into fall… see how that Destiny’s Child reference made sense?

Since I live in the desert, we don’t get a true fall here… we just get out of the triple digit heat. Anything is better than living in hell, right?

DSC_0104 DSC_0105

I don’t like to invest in a full wardrobe for the fall so I love pieces that I can transition into the fall from the summer. This Michael Kors is exactly that piece that will help me jump into fall.

The deep blue is so neutral and can be styled so many different ways with contrasting colors.

I brought back out my navy and red Tory Burch heels to keep the look classic and chic. I really can’t get enough of these shoes, the detailed straps on the front bring an ethic feel to them. The color scheme keep it very classic, especially with that chunky heel.

pool party , anyone?

One thing I love (or one of the many things) about working retail is finding great deals. Especially working for major companies that sell lots of designer collections, you see all the great deals first. Being a manager helps too! HA.

Well a few days ago this pink “floatie” handbag from Moschino came into my store and EVERYONE came up to me to tell how I HAD to buy this bag. When I finally saw the bag, I fell in love instantly. Where else will you find a bag this unique? I debated on the bag for a day, because of the price point. The price was so low from the original I had to do it.

And here we are… chilling poolside with my new bae.

Styled for Spencer!

It’s nice to enjoy my days off styled how I like. I knew we would be heading out for lunch today and I wanted to keep my look spring chic. My mother owns this Alberto Mikali top at Nordstrom Rack awhile back. I knew I wanted to match my look around these new Sam Edelman gladiators.

DSC_0323 DSC_0324

My Alberto Makali top was a perfect match to the gladiators and my yellow shorts brought the entire look together.

When I originally picked out my look, I paired the top with white denim and was told that I looked like a Orange County Housewives. I had to improvise the look keep it to my age group. Lol.

maniac for missoni.

when missoni and converse collaborated before, I missed out on getting the classic chevron print sneakers. then yesterday, I was shopping at Nordstrom Rack and found a whole batch of the collection. I couldn’t grab a cart fast enough to fill it up with all the converse I could get my hands on. DSC_0098 DSC_0101 DSC_0103 DSC_0108 DSC_0106

DSC_0112 DSC_0110

I obviously had to pull out everything missoni that I own. I carried my Missoni for Target laptop case as an oversized clutch. I thought the chevron print in B&W would tie the entire look together.

vested up!

today we recovering from a small earthquake this morning and this major monsoon we’ve had these past two days. for the desert that’s actually half an inch of rain. #caliwinters

since the weather is still a little drabby, i decided to bring out my faux far vest. the weather doesn’t get that cold here so I rarely bring out my vests.

DSC_0005

i also had my final presentation in my Radio & TV Writing class so I wanted to feel cute during my presentation. When you feel cute you do everything better, right? That’s always been a philosophy my mom taught me.

i’m always exploring when I shoot! I found this beautiful spot near the local library that gives the best of both worlds. you get the desert landscape while having water behind you.  DSC_0014 DSC_0016 DSC_0018 DSC_0019 DSC_0028 DSC_0029 DSC_0030 DSC_0033Dress: H&M

Lips & Louis!

I have decided that I am started my clothing transition into fall, even if the desert temperatures don’t want to change yet. I refuse to wait until december to wear layers and boots. DSC_0060I love the sweatshirt trend that has started this fall. I can pull out all of my “running to the store” sweatshirts and make them chic. Shhh…don’t tell my mom! She hates my sweaters. I believe this sequined lips themed pull over was a gift for my sister. I snatched it today for a traditionally chic look.

DSC_0052 DSC_0053 DSC_0050 DSC_0054

I layered the sweater with my silk blouse and favorite skinnies from Nordstrom. I wore the look to school then had to dress it up for another occasion. To elevate my look, I added a Louis Vuitton silver pochette and my Prabal Gurung for Target pumps. DSC_0047 DSC_0058 DSC_0062 DSC_0065 DSC_0064
